Gradual Descent
In The Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

Surah 17, Al-Israa - The Night Journey - Verses 105-106
And as a guide towards the truth have We bestowed this (revelation) from on high; with this truth has it come down: for We have sent you but as a herald of glad tidings and a warner,
(bearing) a discourse which We have gradually unfolded, so that you might read it out to humankind by stages, seeing that We have bestowed it from on high step by step, as (one) revelation.

Surah 76, Al-Insaan - Man - Verse 23
Verily, it is We Who have bestowed from on high this Qur'an upon you, step by step - truly a bestowal from on high!

The Qur'an was revealed in stages to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) - over a period of 23 years: whilst in the process of recieving and being taught the Revelations, he conveyed and explained them to his compatriots.

The early recipients of the Qur'an, therefore, were provided with abundant time and space in which to imbibe, absorb, learn and practice its Message. That is - or rather, ought to be - the methodology of every adherent of the Qur'an: the purpose of its gradual descent must be borne in mind.

No Muslim should expect a non-Muslim to understand, accept or believe in Islam immediately; nor should any Muslim quote the Verses of the Qur'an to a non-Muslim without reference to the manner in which it was revealed. Time is of the essence.
